Cookies Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer hard drive through your web browser to enable our systems to communicate with your browser. Whenever you request a page from our web site, and it is sent to you, a cookie is passed between your browser and our server.
When you request a page from our site, James Hardie records the time, date and Uniform Resource Locator (URL) of the page, along with information about the browser software that is being used.
Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) allow each separate piece of information to have a unique address. They may vary a lot in how they look, but URLs are always built up in a standard way. An example of a URL is:
http://www.jameshardiefrcpipes.com.au/contact_us/privacy_policy
Examples of what the standard terms within a URL mean are: • http:// is the internet protocol (rule) for transferring hypertext (hypertext transfer protocol) • www. Most resources that you will access are located on World Wide Web servers so they are named www at the beginning of the address. • .edu means it is an educational site • .au means it is located in Australia • .com is a commercial or company site • .org is a non-commercial or government organisation • .net is a network • .gov is a government or semi-government organisation.
We also track the overall pattern of visitor usage across the web site by issuing anonymous user IDs to all our visitors. These identify and recognise your computer when you visit us. Cookies from the James Hardie Website only exist while you access our server. When you log off the Internet and close down your computer, they will disappear. If you have any concerns about accepting or disabling cookies you can select the "Help" option on the Toolbar in your browser.
