This is an exciting time for the stormwater industry.

There has been an exponential amount of activity within the stormwater industry of late, which continues to deliver real value to the market. One of the major initiatives delivering benefits to the industry is the adoption of the revised design standard for fibre reinforced concrete pipes (AS4139). The Standards committee has again taken a conservative approach with their design parameters, ensuring minimum performance criteria for pipes.

This revised standard has actually simplified the design and specification of concrete pipes, which I’m sure many designers and installers out there will welcome! In this issue, Site Seeing takes a look at the full impact of the standard changes.

James Hardie has also made a few changes of our own. September saw the official introduction of the new FlexiPit system to our range. The FlexiPit system introduces a fresh approach to pre-cast concrete pit systems with a new level of design versatility, and installation benefits not experienced with traditional pit units.

Another welcome addition this month is the new release of PipeLoad design software. The new release is updated to AS4139:2003, and calculations are based on the full size range of FRC and SRC pipes. Further details on features and how you can obtain your free copy of PipeLoad software are detailed on our website.

This second issue of Site Seeing is wrapped up with more of your ‘frequently asked questions’, recent case studies, our new service commitment, and lots more. We hope you enjoy the read…

Best Regards

Richard Carr

New Standard Recognises Soil Support
The new Australian standard for fibre reinforced concrete pipes will go a long way to simplify the design and specification of concrete pipelines. Designers will now be able to specify one pipe class e.g. class 2 RCP, and an installer can now use either class 2 FRCP (fibre reinforced concrete pipe), or class 2 SRCP (steel reinforced concrete pipe).
